He is a well-known Taiwanese composer, songwriter and singer. His main profession is a dentist; he has done some acting; he dreams of becoming a producer/director; and he is a writer in his spare time. He started his music career in 1987. In 1990, he won the TVB Jade Solid Gold Music Gold Award for the Most Popular Mandarin Song with his "Ni Zhi Dao Wo Zai Deng Ni Ma?" (Do You Know That I Am Waiting For You?). His 18-year music career has been on and off, with him taking time off to study film-making in New York City.
